KG contributes to The International (Re)insurance Review 2026/27, published by Beaumont Capital Markets, with an article examining the forthcoming application of the EU Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive (IRRD), and its impact on insurance insolvency, policyholder protection and regulatory reform in Greece.
The article has been authored by Konstantinos Issaias, Partner and Head of the Insurance Team, together with Zaphirenia Theodoraki, Counsel.
Drawing from the practical experience on the collapse of the Greek insurance undertaking “Aspis Pronoia” and similar examples, the publication explores why liquidation-focused frameworks may fall short in insurance failures and considers the shift towards recovery and resolution mechanisms under the #IRRD, which is to become applicable in the near future.
