The Annual Report for 2019 has been just published by the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), presenting an overview of the responsibilities and activities undertaken in 2019 by the HDPA with regard to compliance with the applicable data protection legislation in Greece.

It should be noted that such Report concerns the first full year of implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) in Greece as well as the first six months of implementation of Greek Law 4624/2019 including supplementary measures of the GDPR and transposing the EU Law Enforcement Directive 2016/680.

In particular, it entails inter alia the key statistics on audits, queries, enforcement, data breaches notified to the HPDA and complaints lodged therewith, and the basic processed cases and decisions issued thereon in the areas of public and private sector, such as education and research, healthcare, social and private insurance, financial services, Internet services and e-commerce as well as electronic communications.
