International Bar Association Annual Conference 2015

KGLawFirm once again participated in the International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference held on October 4-9, 2015 in Vienna. This year our firm was represented by Mr. Gus Papamichalopoulos, head of the Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure Practice and Mr. Panagiotis Pothos, head of the Tax Practice.

Mr. Pothos was also a panel speaker at the Business Crime Committee session of October 7 entitled “Tax planning structures and cross-border transactions: criminal implications for the members of the corporate bodies and for the external advisers in case of tax audit”. This session was chaired by Mr. Fabio Cagnola (Studio Legale Bana, Milan, Italy) and Mr. Enrique Calvo-Nicolau (Calvo Nicolau y Márquez Cristerna-DFK, Mexico City, Mexico) and Mr. Pothos was joined on the panel by Mr. Kevin Downing (Miller & Chevalier Chartered, Washington, District of Columbia, USA), Mr. Marc Henzelin (Lalive, Geneva, Switzerland), Mr. Riccardo Michelutti (Maisto e Associati, Milan, Italy), Mr. Diego Salto (Batalla Salto Luna, San José, Costa Rica), and Mr. Dariusz Wasylkowski (Wardynski & Partners, Warsaw, Poland).

In addition to participation in the IBA formal sessions and events which took place in the conference, and in coordination with our member law firms in the SEE Legal Group, more than 30 partners from SEE Legal from the twelve jurisdictions of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, FYROM, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey met with major Austrian corporations and law firms from around the world. These meetings, which took place throughout the week of the conference, aimed at introducing the legal and business specifics in South East Europe and to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
