KG Law Firm proudly participated as a Premium Sponsor of the 9th Annual IMEDIPA Conference on Competition Law and Policy held in Athens on Friday, April 15th and Saturday April 16th 2016 under the auspices of the Hellenic Competition Commission.
KG partner, and head of the EU and Greek Competition practice, Anastasia Dritsa participated in the panel on Structural Reforms in the Economy and the role of Competition Law and delivered a speech on «Structural Reforms and the Role of the HCC: Competition Law as a driver for liberalization». During her presentation she elaborated on Greece’s recent structural reform program in professional services with an emphasis on liberal professions and the key role of the Hellenic Competition Commission in the abolishment of unwarranted restrictions on access to and exercise of professions which led to the opening up of a vast number of professions. She also touched upon the competition law analysis performed by the HCC in its recommendations concerning particular industries (infant milk distribution, petroleum products, cement, retail and food supply) which culminated in ground breaking reforms in legislature.
The conference was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Hellenic Competition Commission and attended by heads of national competition authorities, EU Commission and HCC officials, competition law experts, in-house counsel and economists.
