KG is pleased to have advised MHP, through its subsidiary Perutnina Ptuj, on obtaining unanimous and unconditional Phase I clearance from the Hellenic Competition Commission for its acquisition of a majority stake in Nitsiakos S.A., one of Greece’s leading poultry and animal-feed producers.

The transaction represents one of the most significant recent investments in Greece’s food and agriculture sector and marks an important milestone in MHP’s continued expansion in the Greek market. Following its assessment of the transaction’s horizontal and vertical effects, the HCC concluded that the concentration raised no competition concerns in the relevant markets and granted unconditional Phase I clearance.

The matter reflects the increasingly international nature of merger-control practice. Successful transaction execution requires not only sophisticated competition-law analysis, but also a clear regulatory strategy and seamless coordination between the client, lead transaction counsel, local competition advisers and competition authorities across multiple jurisdictions. Working closely with Baker McKenzie, international counsel to MHP, KG successfully guided the Greek merger-control process through to clearance within the anticipated timetable.
