Efthalia heads the firm’s Financial Services Regulation, ESG and Sustainable Finance practice. She is a dual-qualified EU and UK lawyer and Partner in KG’s Banking, Finance & Capital Markets practice, advising financial institutions, listed companies and fintech businesses on high-impact, complex EU and UK matters at the intersection of financial regulation, sustainable finance, ESG and capital markets.

Over the past two decades, she has developed a broad banking and financial regulatory practice at the intersection of regulatory strategy, capital markets and financial product innovation. She advises banks, investment firms, payment institutions and asset managers on the design and implementation of major regulatory reform initiatives, including post-Brexit regulatory developments, FCA supervisory frameworks, the Consumer Duty, sustainable finance and ESG regulation, operational resilience and conduct and governance requirements. Her work regularly involves regulatory risk assessments, perimeter analysis, supervisory engagement and the implementation of evolving EU and UK regulatory requirements managing divergent regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

Drawing on her experience at the UK Financial Conduct Authority, including within the UK Listing Authority, Efthalia also advises on IPOs, listing eligibility, prospectus and primary markets regulation, securitisations, bond programmes and complex transactional structures. Her background extends to funds regulation, financial crime frameworks and governance advisory for regulated entities. In the fintech and payments space, she advises on the structuring, launch and governance of payments, lending and open banking models, as well as digitally enabled and bespoke investment solutions, including discretionary mandate structures for sophisticated and high-net-worth investors. Her practice includes regulatory authorisations, product governance frameworks, greenwashing risk management and cross-jurisdictional implementation of regulatory change.

Efthalia works closely with boards and senior leadership teams of major international institutions on regulatory positioning, policy engagement and strategic initiatives, helping organisations navigate complex supervisory environments while implementing commercially effective and sustainable regulatory frameworks.

Efthalia has also significant experience advising on the evolving legal and policy landscape of ESG, supporting clients across multiple jurisdictions in assessing the impact of ESG-related regulatory frameworks on their global operations. She works closely with companies to manage regulatory and reputational risk, including greenwashing exposure, while identifying strategic opportunities arising from sustainable finance and ESG-driven market developments.
